This week Julie turned 3 and a half and tomorrow I turn 30 ... what a week of birthdays it is! We are also celebrating the births of Juliet Rouse and Vinny Mittino. Juliet was born to my friend Katie Rouse and her husband, Brian on Friday morning. She was 8 weeks early and only weighed 3 lbs so she is in NICU for a while. Thankfully she seems to be doing well. Vinny was born on Saturday morning to Adam and Sarah and was just a few days early. He is also in NICU while he works on some breathing issues. I am so excited to meet both Juliet and Vinny and am praying daily for them to be well enough to go home with their parents. I've had two other friends this summer have babies who've required extended hospital stays and surgeries and I am reminded how fortunate we are to have two healthy little girls. I can't imagine what it must be like as a new mom to go home without your baby and can't wait for all of my friends to have their babies home with them where they belong.
Speaking of my healthy little girls, Sunday was a perfect Michigan summer day so we took advantage of the chance to go to the park and had a picnic outside and then played on the playground. We tried to put Lily in one of the baby swings but you can see by the pictures that a babies mouth never stops tasting and she quickly leaned in to chew on the swing. Since I didn't think that was all that sanitary she sat in my lap on the swings for a little while and really seemed to enjoy it. Julie is now "swinging" on her own by laying on her stomach on the swing and running and lifting her feet. I think that next summer she'll probably be completely swinging on her own which is such an amazing thought!
