Over the last couple of months I've started going back to church and have been taking you with me. Going back to church is something that I'd gone back and forth about a number of times before I actually did. I wanted to, however, I also didn't feel totally comfortable going by myself. Having you with me feels more complete. It's wierd, I know! I also want to introduce you to the community that I know at church. We have a great bunch of friends, and obviously we have family, but the community that is at church is something that was really valuable to me growing up and I want you to know that too. This decision to return to church led to a conversation between your dad and I about baptism. Initially we hadn't thought we were going to baptize you, however, once I started going back to church I realized I wanted you to be baptized. Your dad and I talked at length about it and even though we feel differently about the meaning of being baptized we've agreed to have you baptized in the Lutheran Church. You'll be baptized on December 21 this year at University Lutheran Church in East Lansing. This is the church that I grew up in, was confirmed in and we were married in. I really am excited about you being baptized and growing up in the same church where so many important things have happened.
