Lake Geneva 2009

Julie "napping" on the way home from Lake Geneva

We spent the weekend in Lake Geneva, WI with Daddy's Aunt Barb and Uncle Joe. Technically they are your Great Aunt and Uncle but we've been calling them Papa Joe and Grandma Barb because they are Grandma and Grandpa to your cousin Cecilia (Ceci). This weekend was not the greatest weather wise but we still had a great time. You and Ceci were very entertaining to watch interact because you are both used to being the only child and have a hard time sharing with another child. I'm not saying that you can't share because you both do, however, at day care there are so many things going on and so many other kids that you aren't in as direct competition for toys as you are when you are together with Ceci. I can't tell you how many times we would see you stealing each others toys. There is a six month age difference but it feels like it could be much more due to the size difference between the two of you. You are 16 months (almost 17 months) and still wearing 12 month clothes while Ceci is 22 months and wearing 3T clothes. You two also look a lot alike, other than the very obvious Hispanic traits that Ceci has.

Coming home from Lake Geneva we went to Chicago to have lunch with Nick Fratarolli who is a good friend of ours since high school. Even though you just saw Nick a few weeks ago at your Uncle Joel's wedding you were a little nervous about him at first but you did seem to warm up by the time lunch was over.

We had driven to Lake Geneva on Thursday night after I got out of work so that you would sleep on the drive (it's 5 hours) which worked out really well. Coming home you were wide awake but did pretty well ... until the end! Normally you only get your Nuk when you are sleeping, however, we gave in and let you have it while we were driving so that you wouldn't whine ( I know ... ) I turned around and saw that you were awake and was joking with you, telling you that you couldn't have your Nuk since you were awake and you started pulling your blanket up over your face as if to say "since you can't see me who are you to say that I'm not asleep?" which is the picture above.

While we were in Lake Geneva we took you on your first boat ride which made both of your parents so happy. At first your face was very non descript as if you couldn't decide if you were liking the boat or not, however, you started moving around and seemed to enjoy it quite a bit. Unfortunately it was an overcast rather chilly weekend so you weren't able to get in the water but we have plenty of time for that!
