Florida

How do I recap the time we just spent in Florida? There are so many great memories from our trip. While we were in Florida for the week you started walking - yes, you've been walking for a while, but you are now only walking. You realized that it is easier and quicker to walk than to crawl. This of course meant that you also had to figure out how to negotiate changes in elevation which you are still working on. You have a tendency right now to just step off of the porch.

Some of my favorite memories are
-Your aversion to grass. You would walk on the grass if you were wearing shoes, hwoever, if you fell over and your legs touched the grass you would roll back on your butt and lift your legs off the ground in horror until someone rescued you because you of course couldn't save yourself since this might mean your hands would also touch the grass
-One afternoon while we were in the pool you were playing with Grandma and then you just fell asleep on her... in the pool you just leaned over and fell asleep!
-Playing "jump to" in the pool. We would set you on the edge and you would slide into the pool into our arms. Of course, sometimes we would count to three and you would just keep looking at us, waiting for the "right" number. Other times two was the "right" number and you were coming at us before we expected it.
-As we waited for our flight in Detroit you took off across the airport pushing your stroller. Later, as we would "walk" with you in Florida you would look up at us to make sure we weren't touching the stroller and that you were indeed pushing it yourself.
-When we were in the villa you would head straight to the bathrooms and the bathtubs. You are tall enough now that you can pull youself into the bathtub which you did every chance you got (never mind you spent half your day in the pool, you still couldn't get enough of the tubs)
-Watching you discover sand ... at first you didn't want to touch the sand but then you sat down and started running it through your fingers, which of course led to sand in the mouth!
-When we played shuffle board you had to be part of the action. You would pick up one of the disks and walk around the court until you found just the right spot to put it down (usually resulting in me losing points)
-After we were sure you were comfortable with water we let you play on the stairs in the pool and you loved splashing the water.
-You started drinking out of a straw while we were in Florida, so now whenever we go out to eat we have to order you a drink so that you can drink out of the straw. I was sharing my drink with you but that stopped after you backwashed a cracker into my water.
