Rocky Mountain Days

Yesterday was Julie's first visit to Rocky Mountain National Park! We started the day in Cheyenne and by mid morning were driving up into Estes Park where we stopped for lunch at Estes Park Brewery. From Estes we went in the main gate for RMNP and headed up Trailridge. We stopped at many pull outs to enjoy the views. Coming around one corner we saw a traffic jam, which only means one thing in RMNP, some kind of wildlife. Sure enough we were within feet of a few elk who were sitting in the sun. As we continued to climb the sun faded and we drove threw a hail storm on our way to the Alpine Visitor Center. At the center we bought Julie a National Park Passport and she got her first stamp. I remember having a passport as a child and am so excited to be starting the tradition with Julie. I can't believe how fortunate we are that at 4 months old we have already taken her up into the mountains. Coming back down from the visitor center we stopped at Milner's Pass (the Continental Divide) and tried to explain to Julie the significance of this place, however, she was more interested in napping. From there we continued on a little longer before turning around and heading back to Fort Collins. Today we will enjoy the day with all the Sweat's before heading to the airport. (well, we'll try ... Julie is screaming her head off right now so I'll try feeding her)
