First Night Away at Grandma's

Last night was your first night away from home without mom and dad. We went to dinner with some friends to celebrate the sale of the Allen St house and thank them for all of their help with our remodeling. Grandma agreed to babysit (really, we had to twist her arm) and suggested we try an overnight. I figured we might as well since we'll have to do it sometime. Some people couldn't believe we were doing an overnight already, but I figured it is now or never. I certainly missed you this morning when we woke up but I didn't have any overwhelming feelings of loss or that I had done something wrong by leaving my child with someone else. I am so thankful that Jan and Gary are in town and we can leave you overnight without actually going out of town or being real far away. I definitely think that helped ease any anxiety about going away for the night. Hopefully having experiences like these from the get go will help you be a well adjusted child as you grow up. At this point you are so easy going and just happy to be with people (especially if they'll hold you!) and I hope you continue to be so easy going. When I think of all that you've done at two months old ... flying, a weekend away, a night at Grandma's, time at the babysitters ... It really is quite amazing.

Jen,

You are a very smart mama. And you WILL have a well adjusted daughter because of it. I am SO impressed!
