My First Trip Away

Leaving Grand Rapids on my first plane ride!

This weekend was Julie's first plane ride (and first 3.5 hour car ride). She was a trooper all weekend. When we left she'd had a runny nose for a while and I didn't think too much of it. I called the Dr once and they said to keep her propped up and use saline. While we were in Iowa she developed a cough. Poor thing had a rough day on Saturday with not feeling well, being away from home and no doubt tired from such a long day on Friday. We flew to Iowa on Friday and because our flight was late leaving Grand Rapids we missed our connection in Minneapolis. Rather than wait 7.5 hours for the next flight we met Pat and the three of us rented a car to drive down to Humboldt. We got there around 7:30. 3 hours later than we were supposed to, but 3 hours earlier than the next flight would have been. It was a great weekend visiting with Patty, Steve, Shirley, Grandma and Grandpa. Julie has 5 great grandparents and has now met 3 of them. She'll be meeting the Sweat's in a week and a half! What a lucky little girl. Coming home on Sunday Julie didn't feel all that great but she was a trooper. On all of our flights she never cried, just slept through most of them. She was awake for one take off and her eyes got really wide, as if to say, what is happening? Even with that she just hung in there.
