Time Flies

How many times have I started a post with regret over how long it has been since I last wrote? Too many. I try not to worry about it but at the same time I can't believe how quickly time will pass between posts and then there are so many things I want to write about and I don't have the room or the time for all of them. It is the middle of summer and we are finishing up a 90 degree day that had us out and about running around all day! It was a lot of fun but everyone is exhausted and I finally feel like I have a moment to at least start to write.

We went to California over the 4th of July for my cousin Elizabeth's wedding reception and spent a few extra days with the family. Traveling to California went really well and I am pleasantly surprised how easy it was to travel with both girls. Upon arrival we went to Deb and Jim's house to say hi to everyone and spent a little bit of time there before heading to the hotel. Julie wanted to jump right into the pool but we managed to convince her to wait until morning and everyone went to bed fairly easily considering how long of a day it had been. Saturday morning found us at the pool with Uncle Joel and Aunt Jessica which was the highlight of Julie's trip! While final preparations were happening Papa and Great Grandpa came to the hotel to see the girls and we spent some great time together at the pool before heading back to Deb and Jim's for lunch. The wedding reception was a lot of fun and we spent the evening enjoying the chance to interact with everyone.

On Monday most of the family left and we got to spend the day with Deb, Jim and Uncle Joel. We made the most of the day and spent some time at the zoo before packing it in because it was too hot. After lunch at a mexican restaurant they like we spent time relaxing, during which Lily rolled over for the first time and then everyone took naps before heading to a park near their house to play in the water feature there. We capped the evening off with dinner at Smashburger and watching fireworks before Uncle Joel left for the airport and we headed to bed!

Since we've been home things have been busy as I've gone back to work and Steve has been working on the house. Now that Lily is rolling over we have to make sure that all of Julie's toys are picked up which has been a change for her. Not that she ever left all that much out but often it was the small things that got left laying around and that can't happen anymore! Today we went to a baby shower for my friend Kate Schroer Rouse and it was so fun to catch up with her and Brian. They've moved to Texas and while many friends from high school are having babies I haven't seen many of them while they are pregnant so it was really fun to see her and mind boggling to think of where we are now compared to where we were back when we met swimming for the Okemos Seahawks in middle school!
