Jules, this past week you've been taking it upon yourself to do a number of things, which we normally appreciate, however, this week has been full of things that really make us scratch our heads and take a few deep breaths so we don't hurt you :)
Last weekend you decided to wear a pull up instead of your underwear and when I asked why you'd chosen a pull up you said "because it has princess' on it" in a tone that went on to say "duh, mom". Knowing that we'd left the pull ups in your drawer so it was sort of our fault I decided not to argue and just let you wear pull ups. The day went on and you were tromping around in my shoes which is something else you've begun doing recently that I don't really argue with since I used to do the same thing as a child, however, I really hope I never left ALL of my mom's shoes piled on the floor in her bedroom instead of in their boxes in her closet. You got quiet and I came to see why to find you in the bathroom wearing your pull up and my shoes while using the toilet. The juxtaposition of childhood and adulthood was almost disturbing.
During the week I was gone for a couple of nights and the second morning that I was gone your dad called to tell me about your adventure on Thursday night. Apparently at some point early in the evening you'd found some of your paint downstairs and had decided to paint, getting it on your face and arms before dad found you and stopped you. Later that evening after you'd gone to bed dad was feeding Lily and you called down for him to come help you with a mess, which naturally led him to question, what mess? He came upstairs to find that you'd gotten poster paints out of the closet and taken them to bed with you and proceeded to get paint on your sheets, dresser, alarm clock and self. He was understandably upset and in the process of cleaning it up told you not to talk to him which really stuck with you because you told Grandma about it a couple of days later. Now if only you'd understand why he was so upset!
Today dad was golfing with the boys so we had a girls day and you decided to give me a run for my money! At some point this morning I was feeding Lily and you came up to me and said "where are the paper bags?" which naturally led to questions from me about why you needed a paper bag and you informed me that you wanted one of the ones the cat poop goes in, so I realized you meant a plastic grocery bag so I told you they were upstairs and you asked "where upstairs?" which got me concerned. As I processed what you were getting at I realized that you wanted to clean the cat box so I asked if you had been in Bella's room and you confirmed that you had indeed been working on the cat box. I asked what you'd done with the poop and you said you'd put it in the trash ... I went upstairs to find that you had indeed scooped the cat box into the trash can next to it and then left the scoop in the box while you put the lid back on, backwards! I brought you in and showed you how Bella couldn't get into the box anymore and asked that next time if you wanted to learn how to empty the cat box you needed to ask me!
Tonight you were getting undressed and your clothes were so dirty that I asked you to take them into the laundry room instead of putting them in the laundry basket like you usually do. You went off and then from the laundry room you asked me how to start the washer. I yelled back that you didn't need to start it, you just needed to put your clothes in it and then head upstairs to your bathroom, which you did ... or so I thought! You were upstairs with dad starting your bath when I heard the washing machine running and went in to find that you had somehow managed to start the washer and were currently washing 3 items in the load.
So, to sum it up ... I love how much you have grown and what you are capable of doing. However, can you please reel it in and just be 3?
