Last night was quite the night for Jules ... we got off to a decent start but by the end of dinner things had definitely deteriorated. In fact, during bed time we got a couple of responses from her that left us biting our cheeks to not laugh!
First she was upset that she was going to bed without desert (a koolaid popsicle that she and Steve had made the day before) and when she was getting into bed she said she'd hurt herself for the 500th time that evening. So, in exasperation I leaned in to tell her that we weren't going to believe that she'd actually hurt herself if she kept saying that she was hurt. Jules decided she didn't want to hear it from me so she threw herself face down on her bed and said with as much attitude as a 3 year old can muster "I'm not going to look at you." My response was to say Ok and lean in to kiss her and say goodnight which was obviously not what she'd expected because she jumped out of bed and followed me into the bathroom where I'd gone to give Lily a bath.
In the bathroom she said she needed to pee so we told her to go ahead and do that and then go to bed and then we returned to bathing Lily. I'm not sure exactly where it came from but she puffed herself up and said "I'm not going to play with you guys!" and then stomped out of the bathroom into her bedroom. Thankfully at this point I had Lily in the water so I was able to shift my focus to her and giggle to myself while poor Steve had to go tuck Jules in before he could laugh.
I don't know how a 3 year old can be so sassy and I'm sure this is nothing compared to what we'll get at 5, 6 or 13 but man it is a lot to handle some nights!
