Over the weekend you used the potty pretty regularly and actually pooped in the potty which has been your biggest hangup. Every day when I drop you off at Marcie's we have a talk about where you are going to poop and pee throughout the day but you continue to poop in your diaper. However, you have started telling Marcie when you poop which seems to me like a big step towards you recognizing that you need to poop and heading to the bathroom to do it.
Tonight at dinner I said something because the baby was kicking me which started a great conversation!
You: What?
(and then when we didn't really respond)
You: Who?
Us: The baby is kicking mommy
You: My baby?
Me: No, not your baby. The baby that mommy and daddy are having
You: Is it in your tummy?
Me: Yep
You: Does daddy have one in his tummy too?
Dad: No, honey, that honor and privilege is reserved for mommies
This conversation also led to you trying to understand what we meant by the baby kicking me because you were concerned that the baby was hurting me (after all, it isn't nice to kick, right?). I'm really excited to have finally "broken" it to you and look forward to having many more discussions with you during the next few months!
